landry’s birthday has come and gone. We had such a great time and I am willing to admit that it’s mostly (aside from friends and family) because it was brunch. Why are brunch foods so delicious? We’ve done brunch the last 2 years for Landry’s parties and it’s always a big hit!
Since landry’s favorite foods are all breakfast type foods, it’s always a no-brainer.
and because he has a sliiiiight obsession with Mickey, that was ALSO a no-brainer.
Before I had kids, I swore up and down that I would never do character parties. Not that I don’t like them, but if you know me, you know I like to be original.
So when we chose a Mickey theme, I was on a mission to make it more classic Mickey Mouse Birthday theme and less Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Landry loves waffles, donuts, and muffins (i mean, who doesn’t?). So we focused our menu on these 3 things. The donut stand was made out of a styrofoam cone, covered in foil. I just poked the donut holes with toothpicks the whole way around.
The mickey waffles were made with a mickey waffle iron I found online. Adorable, right??
Here are a few helpful tips
I found label sheet paper and circle punched these tags out and just stuck them on top cups to personalize them. The same tags were used as cupcake toppers! The mickey table toppers are styrofoam balls painted black from any craft store.
The “2” pops were made with Wilton candy melts and lollipop sticks a week beforehand to save me on time.
Mickey-shaped cheese in the fruit cups was from Wal-Mart, already pre-cut.
Since I went with a red, black, and yellow color scheme, I bought polka dot fabric in matching colors as a backdrop and table cloth.
Needless to say, everybody left the party sugared up, but it was Valentine’s Day so parents gave me a free pass.
