I have a weird obsession with crescent rolls. In any form. In any recipe.
I’m always looking for new ways to eat them. My family loves them too!! And it’s hard to please ALL of my family with just one recipe. So when i realized that I could make grilled cheese with a can of Pillsbury crescent rolls instead of bread, I threw a tiny party (in my head).
Cheese is another one of my favorites. Because it comes in so many different options. And every time you cook something, you can make it taste a little different, depending on the cheese you choose.
For this specific recipe, I chose Gruyere, but seriously, the more you make this, the more cheeses you’ll discover you love on a Grilled Cheese Sandwich.
All you need is a can of crescent sheet, cheese of your choice, and meat of your choice (if desired).
Preheat your oven to 350 and follow baking directions on packaging of crescent sheet. Spray your baking sheet before laying your cresent flat onto it.
Next, visualize your sheet in 3 evenly vertical sections, and place a thin layer of your cheese in your center section.
Then place your meat on top of your cheese.
Finally, generously add your cheese to the rest of the filling.
Here’s the fun part. Grab your pizza cutter and make downward lines on your 2 outside sections of your crescent.
Once you’ve cut lines the whole way down, start from the top and braid your dough. Be sure to cover all cheese and meat so that your sandwich will have bread on both the top and bottom.
After the whole thing is braided, take some shredded cheese and sprinkle it over the braid. Place it in over until the dough is golden brown and you’re drooling.
Serve it with tomato soup, or your favorite dipping sauce.
